Armorgie - That's an unusual surname; where does it come from? This book tells you how living with an unusual surname can cause curiosity about its origins to the extent that it triggered an obsessive hunt that lasted over 50 years. Amongst the profane humour are some profound observations. The story meanders from Bath, to Leamington Spa, onwards to Liverpool and leaves the UK to circumnavigate the globe. A chance observation led to the discovery of the secretive origins of the name that connect it to the American Civil War. The hunt for origins of the Armorgie surname is a true-life detective story that is woven into the life story of the author, as well as being intrinsically bound up in the socio-political history of both America and Britain. Good fiction has to be believable; reality has its own rules.
