True-to-life experiences of 1970s Jamaica lend colour to Changes: A Jamaican Parable, where a suburb becomes caught up in the vicissitudes of the time. The characters experience internal conflict and public conflict as local and national changes intertwine. This is largely depicted in the struggles of those whose individual stories tell of a search for identity, recognition, and for victory over forces that attempt to overwhelm them and their community.
