Just as Hanna Sheridan is dreaming of an empty nest, her three adult children, baby granddaughter, and out of work sister move back in with her. A boomerang family. Tired of being responsible for everyone, she turns her cell phone off and drives from Colorado to San Diego to visit her widowed college roommate, leaving her family to fend for themselves while she explores the beach scene and takes a close look at what she wants the rest of her life to be. Being a runaway mom comes with perks-a job with her friend's catering service and the time to train for a half marathon with a handsome new friend-and with irreversible consequences for her family.
